What is a Content Management System?

A Content Management System (in short CMS) is a system or platform that manages your website and its contents.

In today’s world on the internet, the majority of sites use content management systems to manage their websites. With the help of a content management system, anyone can create a blog, ecommerce, website, and more.

Even this website AtulHost uses WordPress CMS to manage the content of this blog. There are hundreds of open-source CMS to use on your next site. It is almost impossible to create a blog manually because blogs are dynamic than websites because they are updated daily by their owner.

CMS (Content Management System)

Today, free WordPress CMS is the best to create a blog because it contains the best features than any other CMS to create a blog and website. Typically, we can split CMS (Content Management System) into two parts:

  • Content Management Application (CMA)
  • Content Delivery Application (CDA)

CMA allows the site owner to manage the whole site. It allows site owners to create, edit, change, delete data of his/her site. CDA updates the site information according to instructions.

A CMS makes the distance between you and your website’s coding. If you don’t have any experience in HTML, CSS, PHP, and any other web development languages then use CMS.

You hardly have to touch your website’s coding because it comes with great features like:

  • Creating, editing and publishing content.
  • Making meta description of your blog post.
  • Allows you to gather editors and writers to your site just like signing up.
  • Automatically add new page or post to sitemap to make your page indexed by search engines faster.
  • You can add or remove new widgets on your site to make it interactive.
  • And many more which can be only be expereince after using it.

Every open-source CMS on the internet comes with its own features. Some of them are mostly used to create blogs with the help of WordPress CMS, Some of them are used to create ecommerce sites with the help of Magento CMS and some of them are used to create corporate sites with the help of Joomla CMS.

Advantages of using a CMS.

Creating a site with any type of CMS becomes very easy than creating it manually because in the case of CMS.

You just have to install it on your hosting service to use but creating it manually is very hard because you have to create it manually and upload it on the hosting service.

A CMS allows you to upload files like images and videos on your site with just a single click which is relatively easy compared to doing it manually using file transfer.

If you have created your site manually then you will think 100s of times if you want to change the design and layout of your site because you have to change it manually which takes time.

But if you are using CMS then changing site design and layout can be completed in just a few seconds.
