Recently, I wrote a review on Jio AirFiber, now I am trying out Airtel AirFiber as I got a very close 5G tower within 0.45 kilometer range which is visible to naked eyes.
So, here is my complete experience with Airtel AirFiber in which I am going to share my experience with installation, setup, and internet performance. For the sake for new data I’ll keep updating the article with new information with time.

Let’s begin knowing my experience.
Booking Experience:
The booking process was simple, all you need to do is either use Airtel’s mobile app or visit their website and book a request for Airtel WiFi connection.
I made the booking at evening, next morning the representative arrived at my home with all the details and instructions about my booking, installation, and bill details. In the booking process you will be asked for contact number, installation address, and live location by any agent or representative who will assess you further.
In my case the payment, mine was getting failed but the representative came to my location and accepted the payment and made everything smooth for me. Once he asked me for my live location over WhatsApp then shared the detail with me that my location is very much feasible for the installation and I can continue with booking.
Installation:

The setup was simple, right after 48 hours of booking, installation engineer arived at my house and did the installation. Since I already had a ready pole on roof, the installation was fast and smooth. The ethernet cabled used in installation of Airtel AirFiber is actually better and strong compared to Jio AirFiber; also Jio installed Cat5E cable while Airtel Installed Cat6 cable for the same installation.
I just noticed a thing that I cannot change the Ethernet cable myself without having a right equipments. It is because the Outdoor CPE has a special type of screw, after a research I found that Airtel AirFiber use Torx Security T10 screw in its CPE.
Luckily I have that in my all-in-one screwdriver set so I do not have to worry about that in future cable change incase squerrel chew the cable and something stops.

Airtel
Plans:
I booked for the Wi-Fi only (No TV and No Setup Box) base plan which was 499+GST for a 40Mb/s speed. It will actually cost me around ₹588.82 a month.
The best thing is that Airtel actually offers internet only plans and no bullshit.
Comparing it with Jio, I liked Airtel more because their connection is actually better and reliable, while Jio offer too much that all looks unusable at use. Jio’s TV combo looks good on paper but in really it is box of advertisements.
Uptime and Downtime:
Talking about the internet experience it is aswesom, the latencies are little higher to Jio but network is robust even when it switches between 5G and 4G.
On multiple tests I found that high latency solved after sometimes as the nearest tower as in maintenance mode and then latencies become lowest.

I feel that all time that Airtel’s network is more responsive everywhere comapared to Jio’s True 5G. While the fact is Jio focuses on its 5G symbol even with slow speeds but Airtel has actually better 5G infrastructure wheverever it has its coverage.
Some Random Issues:
I noticed that router sometimes show blinking light due to network unavailability but later I know that it was not CPE’s fault but the tower was in maintenance mode.
My Opinion on Airtel AirFiber:
I my case Airtel’s mobile tower is just 450 meters away from me so my connectivity and coverage was superior to Jio’s (which was about 5 kilometers away from me).
In reality and one month of use, I can say that if your need is pure internet and then entertainment then Airtel AirFiber is actually better option if Fiber is not available.
The plans are affordable and comparable to competition, speeds are better, network relability is even better, there are no downtimes except that maintenance. Overall Airtel AirFiber is a better option for those who wants better internet connectivity.
